Alpha Delta Pi was founded by six young women at Wesleyan College in 1851 as the first ever secret society for collegiate women, and was originally named The Adelphean Society. Our sisters live by values represented in our four-point diamond shaped badge: Self, Service, Sisterhood, and Sorority, as well as our open motto: We Live For Each Other. Our sisterhood is the oldest women’s organization dedicated to the development of high educational standards, lifelong friendships and bonds, and betterment of self and leadership ability. We cherish one another for our individuality and commitment to the true meaning of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
Alpha Sigma Alpha is a social sorority made up of a diverse group of women all striving towards the same goal of making a difference. We inspire our sisters to get involved on campus through other extracurriculars and leadership roles as well as volunteering in the Newport News community. Our hands-on approach to community service helps Special Olympics, the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation, the S June Smith Center, and Girls on the Run. Our sisters support each other and tackle each day with poise and purpose.
The sisters of the Eta Tau chapter of Delta Gamma are passionate about scholarship, philanthropy, building life-long relationships, expanding our cultural interests, and giving back to the CNU community. We are driven by our philanthropy, Service for Sight, that seeks to aid those in society that are visually impaired or blind. Delta Gamma's motto is Do Good, and that is what we are here to do!
Gamma Phi Beta at Christopher Newport University is one of love, labor, learning, and loyalty. We pride ourselves in making a difference in both the local community and CNU community. With that being said, we are partnered closely with both Girls Inc. and Girls On The Run in order to accomplish our goal of building strong girls. Sisterhood means an immense amount to this organization and the bounds of Gamma Phi Beta run deep within each of us. We are forever grateful to this organization, and to our Panhellenic Community, for everything that it has provided for us.
Love, honor, and truth; three values of which we strive to live as Phi Mu’s every day. Phi Mu at CNU is a chapter full of strong women who push each other to be the best versions of ourselves. We are all so unique and have different interests, but at the end of the day, the things we have in common that unite us are our values. We are not afraid to stand up for what is right. We believe in helping those who are in need. Our local philanthropy is Children’s Hospital for the King's Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, VA. Our sisters take time out of their hectic days to volunteer at CHKD, as well as craft small gifts to lift the children’s spirits. We are secure in ourselves and in our values. We build our sisters up, and when we see something in them that they might not see themselves, we give them opportunities to let those skills shine through. We make people feel good about themselves. Phi Mu has taught us how to love openly without reservation and have the pure intention of bettering one another. “There are times where I haven't laughed harder or been higher on life, but I know I can be frustrated and complain, or cry, and you all will be there. There is so much trust here it's unfathomable."
"Being a Sister of the Kappa Phi Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha has given me the strength and confidence to challenge myself as a leader and as a member of the CNU community. ZTA has given me a crown, a place to call home, and memories that I’ll cherish forever."
