Alpha Delta Pi
The sisters of Alpha Delta Pi have nothing to report at this time.
After a few open sisterhood events and tons of new friendships made, Alpha Phi ended the semester with great excitement for upcoming Formal Recruitment 2015. As the sisters enjoy their winter break and bask in the holiday spirit, they look forward to meeting all of the lovely women going through formal recruitment and greeting their new pledge class in the Spring!
Alpha Sigma Alpha
Walking through an Alpha Sig Wonderland was the theme for Alpha Sigma Alpha’s December open sisterhood event. During the event they decorated ornaments and wrote cards to be sent to the
S. June Smith Center. The sisters of Alpha Sigma Alpha had a lovely time crafting for one of their philanthropies, as well as getting to know some of the wonderful women on CNU’s campus. Alpha Sigma Alpha is looking forward to winter break but is even more excited for Formal Recruitment!
Gamma Phi Beta
The sisters of Gamma Phi Beta have nothing to report at this time.
On December 5th, the sisters of Phi Mu had an amazing date function at Busch Gardens Christmas Town. It was a great night that made this a December to remember! The night was filled with penguins, rides, food, lights, sisters, and great company! This was the perfect way for the sisters to end a great semester and make another amazing memory! Tis' the season for sisters, great friends, and Christmas Town.
Zeta Tau Alpha
We had such a busy and fun-filled month trying to pack a few more things in before finals! Our main events included our last open sisterhood event where we were able to decorate lots of cookies and meet some awesome people, Senior Send-off for our few December grads (who we already miss dearly), and a super fun Christmas party full of tacky sweaters and more cookies. We are so excited to come back rested up from break in January to kick off formal recruitment!
Thankful for Alpha Delta Pi
The sisters of Alpha Delta Pi decided to celebrate the beginning of fall with a photo shoot. Sisters chose to sport a popular autumn outfit: flannel shirts, vests, and scarves. They had an awesome time throwing diamonds and laughing with sisters. The photos really show how thankful they are for their sisterhood. Happy Thanksgiving from the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi!
'Tis the Season with Alpha Phi
Alpha Phi spread holiday cheer at their final open sisterhood event “Tis the Season.” The sisters sipped on delicious hot chocolate while sharing the joy of Greek life with girls interested in going through formal recruitment. Tasty treats like doughnuts and peppermint popcorn were popular among all in attendance. The sisters of Alpha Phi are looking forward to being done with finals and heading home for the holidays, though they are all excited to return for formal recruitment and welcome new members into the home they have found in Alpha Phi.
Alpha Sigma Alpha's Annual Mocktail
Alpha Sigma Alpha had their annual Mocktail this November. Mocktail is a fun event held on campus where sisters get dressed up to enjoy spending extra time with our chapter. Sisters put on their best cocktail attire and gathered to celebrate their sisterhood. It was so fun to see everyone dressed up! Our wonderful Sisterhood chair organized this fantastic event and put together a cute slideshow and photobooth. From studying abroad with sisters to open sisterhood events, the slideshow had tons of pictures from different memories our chapter made together. Getting together with sisters was a great way to be reminded of how important sisterhood is to our chapter. The sisters of Alpha Sigma Alpha are looking forward to our next Mocktail!
#ThankfulThursday for Delta Gamma
Along with initiation this past November, the sisters of Delta Gamma hosted their first ever Open Sisterhood Event, Thankful for Sisterhood. The fall themed event occurred on Thursday, November 20. The sisters cozily decorated the McMurran lecture hall complete with a live tree, crafts, hot chocolate, apple cider, and cookies. A few weeks prior to the event, each sister created hand cut-outs and wrote what she was thankful for in her sisterhood. The women who visited Delta Gamma that evening had the opportunity to cut-out their own paper hand and wrote what they were looking forward to, and how they could benefit from being in Greek Life. They also made wreaths while enjoying conversations with the sisters. The night was a success and the ladies of Delta Gamma look forward to their first formal recruitment in the spring.
Gamma Phi Beta
The ladies of Gamma Phi Beta had an absolutely fabulous November! On November 20th, the sisterhood hosted a pancake-dinner open sisterhood event, all tied together with a Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme. The sisters also got to experience the ultimate sisterhood bonding activity at William & Mary’s outdoor ropes and adventure course, and engaged in team-building activities, relays, and cross-river ziplining! Towards the end of the month, they were also incredibly happy to welcome a new executive board, including 9 elected officials for the 2016 calendar year. The ladies of Gamma Phi Beta simply can’t wait for formal recruitment in January, and would like to wish you a happy holiday season and a wonderful year to come!
Happy Holidays from Phi Mu!
The sisters of Phi Mu brought in the Holiday Season by visiting a Christmas tree farm in Williamsburg! There was plenty of holiday spirit to go around. Sisters walked through countless trees, playing games and taking pictures. They continued their fun-filled afternoon by hanging around old town Williamsburg, visiting some attractions and grabbing dinner. What better way to celebrate the season than with Love, Honor, and Truth!
Zeta Tau Alpha
The ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha had two exciting events that happened in November. The first event was an ice skating sisterhood event. The ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha went to the local ice place and skated the night away. The sisters had such a blast and enjoyed spending quality time with each other. The other event that the women of Zeta Tau Alpha enjoyed doing was a service mixer with the gentlemen of Delta Upsilon. The service mixer was a senior prom where the Zetas and the gentlemen of Delta Upsilon created a prom for the senior citizens, and danced the afternoon away. The sisters loved both of the events and cannot wait for more events to come soon.
Alpha Delta Pi Roarin' Down the Runway
ADPi’s second annual Roarin’ Down the Runway was a huge success! An unconventional fashion show, organizations compete and show their support for our philanthropy, Ronald McDonald House Charities in the following rounds: Blue & White, Reppin’ Ronald McDonald, The Mane Event (Safari) & Miscellaneous. All proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities and other Alpha Delta Pi Foundation Philanthropy Programs. We had so much fun seeing all the teams getting wild for RMH!
Alpha Phi Stroll Off
On the evening of October 29, the sisters of Alpha Phi competed in the annual Stroll to the Polls, hosted by the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha. Eager to spend the evening cheering on the entire Greek community, the sisters showed major spirit from start to finish. In addition, they raised the most money of any team with over $180 for the March of Dimes-- one of Alpha Phi Alpha's Philanthropies. To top off the evening, Alpha Phi took home first place for the second year in a row, showing that hard work, dedication, and a little sass really does pay off.
Play Your ASA Off
The ladies of Alpha Sigma Alpha held their second annual sports-based philanthropy event, Play Your ASA Off. The tournament this year was a dodgeball tournament where teams of 6-8 players faced off against each other for the ultimate title of dodgeball champions. The event was held in the Auxiliary Gym, which was quickly filled with sisters, players, and guests cheering on their teams. All proceeds benefited one of ASA’s philanthropies, Girls on the Run, which is an organization that inspires young girls to be healthy and confident using a curriculum that integrates running. ASA is proud to have raised over $500 for Girls on the Run and hopes that next year’s event will be just as exciting!
Delta Gamma's First Service for Sight Event
The past two months have been a whirlwind for the sisters of Delta Gamma. Yet, as these women prepare to move from colonizing to initiated members, they still have time for philanthropy! The sisters of Delta Gamma recently visited a local elementary school to spread awareness about eye health and person hygiene. Through games, coloring paper glasses, and fun fact cards, the sisters were able to promote general eye safety and support children who might be self-conscious about wearing their glasses. There was also a display where everyone could fill out an “I am Thankful to See…” card and display it on the poster. The sisters of Delta Gamma had a wonderful time working with the children in their first service event and look forward to the many opportunities to come.
Gamma Phi Beta Bonding
The sisters of Gamma Phi Beta have been very busy in the past few weeks! Recently, sisters of Gamma Phi Beta participated in Alpha Phi Alpha’s “Stroll to the Polls” and placed third out of eleven teams! We had so much fun at the event and were glad to participate in an event that contributed on the importance of voting! Soon after, last weekend we were thrilled to initiate five new women in our Fall of 2014 class! We are so excited to see what these amazing women will contribute to our wonderful sisterhood, and we can’t wait to see how our chapter will flourish in the weeks to come! Shortly after, sisters participated in Alpha Sigma Alphas “Play Your ASA Off”, and had a great time bonding with each other while supporting other organizations in the dodgeball tournament!
Phi Mu's Annual Dance Marathon
On Wednesday, November 5h, the sister of Phi Mu went "back to the 80's" and held their 5th annual Dance Marathon. Sisters, participants, and even some Miracle Children came out to dance their butts off to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals! Throughout the night, various groups gave killer dance performances and people participated in a silent auction. The silent auction, composed of donations that sisters collected, raised over $5,000! Attendees also heard from the mother of a Miracle Child, who shared her personal and touching experience in having her child helped at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, Phi Mu's local philanthropy through CMNH. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported CHKD!
Zeta Tau Alpha's Pink Pageant
The sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha enjoyed a great ending to our Pinktober! We hosted our first annual Pink Carnival on the York Lawn. It included a dunk tank, a 15 foot inflatable slide, puppies from the SPCA, and performances from Oh No and the Disappointments and Hypnotic Control! We finished off the carnival with Pie your President, where presidents from other clubs and organizations got pied in the face to support Breast Cancer Awareness and Education. On the last day of October, we hosted our 3rd annual Pink Pageant where 12 men came out and competed! Congrats to Nick Mirra for winning the crown and Robert Villoch for winning crowd favorite!!! Our sisters were so happy with the turn out and support!
Tye Dye with Alpha Delta Pi
The sisters of Alpha Delta Pi brought together the CNU community with their Tie-Dye with ADPi event! 150 t-shirts were given out for free for CNU students to tie-dye. After that, students were asked to donate one dollar for the remaining shirts, with the proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The event was a hit, and you can now see “I Love CNU” tie-dyed shirts all over campus! The sisters of Alpha Delta Pi would like to thank everyone who came out to this event and made it so successful.
Alpha Phi's Annual Red Dress Gala
Alpha Phi welcomed the autumn season perfectly with their annual and biggest philanthropy event of the year, Red Dress Gala. The sisters glowing in their red dresses to represent heart health, raised over $13,000 toward their philanthropy, making the event a CNU record breaker! An extravagant black tie evening of elegance and live music, guests participated in silent auctions for baskets created by the sisters of Alpha Phi. The baskets ranged from assortments of Naked Palettes, lottery tickets to variations of coffee or Lily Pulitzer prints. Nicole Somma, president of Alpha Phi, related the importance of awareness of heart health by sharing a personal story about her heart condition. Memories were made and laughs were shared on a joyous night to raise awareness. The sisters of Alpha Phi were delighted to share their most prized philanthropy and sisterhood with the CNU community and families.
Alpha Sigma Alpha: #RockinForAReason
This October the ladies of Alpha Sigma Alpha spent 24 hours rocking in the Trible Plaza to raise money for the Newport News Special Olympics. Starting at 1pm on Wednesday, October 18, sisters of Alpha Sigma Alpha took shifts in three rocking chairs. The ladies rocked through 1pm on Thursday, October 19. Throughout this period, the sisters also sold raffle tickets and took donations for baked goods. Those who donated had the option of having their donation benefit any of the individuals from other organizations who elected to partake in the twinkie-eating contest that was to take place on Thursday. The more money that an individual raised, the further ahead they started during the contest. Every sister was thrilled about the number of donations and support that was given to benefit the Newport News Special Olympics!
Delta Gamma Twin Reveal
The sisters of Delta Gamma enjoyed time outside near the beautiful Lions-Gate Bridge this past weekend, during which each sister was granted a twin. During the past month since colonizing here at CNU, the sisters of Delta Gamma were eagerly getting to know each other in anticipation of starting a new family line. After waiting for weeks, the sisters were finally surprised with their twins, and made use of many photo props as well as the natural beach scenery to engage in some great “Kodak moments.” The sisters of Delta Gamma will be hosting their very first open sisterhood event in November, and couldn’t be happier to get the recruitment process rolling with their newly found families!
Gamma Phi Beta helps Colonize a Chapter
This October the Sisters of Gamma Phi Beta at Christopher Newport University were given the honor of helping colonize a brand new chapter at James Madison University. Sisters road three hours to JMU on October 1st to help with Philanthropy rounds. Once on JMU’s campus, sisters spoke with a diversity of girls who were going through recruitment. Sisters engaged in conversations discussing Gamma Phi Beta’s philanthropic mission: Building Strong Girls, especially highlighting their own personal hands on experiences with Girls Inc. The sisters of Gamma Phi Beta had talked to over three hundred girls! Needless to say the Sisters of Gamma Phi Beta enjoyed themselves and welcomed a new chapter of Gamma Phi Beta into their Sisterhood on October 4th. The Sisters of Gamma Phi Beta were so happy to help with recruitment at JMU, but can’t wait for formal recruitment on our very own campus this spring!
Phi Mu's Hazing Prevention Week
At the end of September, HazingPrevention.org sponsored National Hazing Prevention Week. Having various organizations plan events and activities around this awareness week is a great way to bring attention to the problem of hazing. Phi Mu participated in this week and helped raise hazing prevention awareness by tabling in the DSU. Passerby’s were encouraged to stop and read about hazing prevention on a presentation board, and were given the opportunity to either sign their names or stamp their hands on a banner that would later be hung in the DSU to pledge to not haze. The Sisters of Phi Mu were more than happy to help others realize that hazing is a real problem in the Greek community, and to help them realize that it can be stopped.
Zeta Tau Alpha's Pinktober
October is one of the busiest months for the ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha. The sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha often refer to October as “Pinktober” a month dedicated to raising money towards Breast Cancer awareness and education and Zeta Tau Alpha’s National Philanthropy. So far in the month of October the ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha have raised over $2,000 from our Pink the Rink event with the Hockey Team, the Pink Out Football Game, Pink Lemonade stand and first ever Stomp Out Breast Cancer event with the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta. The ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha hope the CNU Community is just as excited as they are for our last two events of the month their Pink Carnival and Pink Pageant coming up at the end of the month.
Panhellenic's First Proud to Be Greek Event: Zumba!
Panhellenic will be hosting "Proud to Be Greek" events throughout the semester in order to promote unity between all seven sororities! Panhellenic Council held their first event, Zumba Night, on September 22nd! This was an open event for men and women on campus to relax with Panhellenic women! Ginna Tucker, from Alpha Delta Pi, and Kierra Perry, from Gamma Phi Beta, were the instructors for the night! They played fun music and taught a new dance routine per song! This event promoted women's health and the ability to have fun while exercising! Panhellenic was overwhelmed with the amount of Greek love and excitement that filled the DSU Ballroom!
Alpha Delta Pi: "Dunkin' Diamonds"
The sisters of Alpha Delta Pi engage in a fun event called Pride Reveal! Our reveal was titled “Dunkin’ Diamonds” & it was a high-energy, exciting event where the sisters found out what Prides they would be in for that semester. The purpose of a pride is to foster close-knit relationships between all members of the sorority. In addition to some donut-themed games, we had a very special guest, Alpha Delta Pi international officer Laura Hoffman! The sisters of ADPi are excited to see what this year has in store!
Kick Back with Alpha Phi!
On September 8th, the ladies of Alpha Phi hosted their first open sisterhood event, 'Kick Back with Alpha Phi.' Though summer showers caused the sisters to move indoors, the event inspired the beginning of many new friendships. No weather was going to hinder Alpha Phi's chance of getting to see new and old faces alike. Sisters greeted a variety of wonderful women of CNU in an evening of food, music, and great conversation. This event was the perfect start to what is expected to be a wonderful year!
Alpha SigmaAlpha: Fall Open Sisterhood Events
The sisters of Alpha Sigma Alpha had a great time this past week getting to know the women of Christopher Newport University. They had wonderful ladies who were interested in Greek Life come out during their fall open sisterhood events, such as Game Night, the Ladybug Picnic, Lunch with ASA and Sweet Treats. Ladybug Picnic was the crowd favorite! At the picnic they played corn hole, shared some delicious snacks, and enjoyed great conversations with sisters and CNU women. After a busy week of meeting a variety of CNU women, the sisters of Alpha Sigma Alpha are excited for their Fall 2014 class and look forward to formal recruitment in the coming spring semester.
Delta Gamma's First "Do Good" Week!
As Delta Gamma begins to settle into CNU's campus having been colonized Fall 2014, they are already excited to be promoting their philanthropy! The sisters of Delta Gamma had their first "Do Good" week where they dedicated their time and effort to helping others! They have made an effort both on and off campus by delivering food to homeless shelters and emergency rooms, handing out donuts to students on their way to class, and visiting local fire stations to thank them for all that they do! We are so proud of their service efforts in our community!
In Gamma Phi Beta We Trust
This week, the sisters of Gamma Phi Beta were very busy! The sisters kicked off the school year with our first open sisterhood event; In Gamma Phi Beta we trust. Sisters and girls who were interested in our fall recruitment process relaxed on the JR courts wearing American-themed outfits and eating American-themed foods like hotdogs and delicious red, white and blue cupcakes! Shortly after, Gamma Phi Beta held our fall Bid Day to welcome our six new members of the Alpha Rho Class! Sisters and new members celebrated this big day with tons of delicious food and fun in the M&T hall of the Ferguson Center, and enjoyed their time together bonding and getting to know each other.
Phi Mu loves Philanthropy!
The sisters of Phi Mu have been taking trips to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, their philanthropy, for many years. Sisters visited this hospital in Norfolk, VA during the children's craft time. These sisters brought items to make friendship bracelets with the children and joined in on their favorite games. It has always been a humbling experience for the sisters of Phi Mu to witness their philanthropy in action, and to see that all of the money raised by their sorority is going to such an outstanding cause. Although the sisters originally signed up for this specific visit to CHKD to brighten the kid’s days, it ended up truly brightening their outlook on their philanthropy by seeing firsthand whom the money we raise affects. These organized trips through Phi Mu have and will continue to inspire the women of this organization. The ladies of Phi Mu are proud to say that their philanthropy is always working to, “lend to those less fortunate a helping hand”.
Zeta Tau Alpha Attends National Convention
In June, three of our sisters had the privilege of going to Zeta Tau Alpha’s National Convention in Los Angeles, California. This convention was very exciting because the new brand of ZTA was launched! The sisters of Kappa Phi received recognition for having an outstanding GPA for the 2013 to 2014 school year. They really enjoyed getting to know sisters from all over the nation and getting to learn about their chapters! The sisters of ZTA are looking forward to release our Pinktober calendar with October right around the corner! Stay tuned for events throughout the month supporting our philanthropy of Breast Cancer Awareness and Education, and remember to Think Pink!
Phi Mu: Team Rome, Bring It Home!
The sisters of Phi Mu were partnered with the gentlemen of Pi Lambda Phi and Delta Upsilon for Greek Week! The ladies of Phi Mu enjoyed the opportunity for team members to work together and bond on Field day! Field day consisted of an egg toss, tug-of-war, obstacle course, dodge ball and kickball game! This experience has left many sisters with new friends and new faces to wave to around campus. It is great to see team members eating lunch together or studying after Greek Week has passed. The memories made during this week are worth more than any trophy!
Struttin' with Gamma Phi Beta
Here at CNU, the sisters of Gamma Phi Beta love tradition! One of GPhi’s favorite traditions of Greek Week is getting the chance to come together and strut their stuff on the Trible Plaza during Stroll Off. However, sometimes tradition changes and this year there was an Activity hour where Gamma Phi Beta embraced change and joined up with Sigma Phi Epsilon and Tau Delta Phi to “get down with their bad selves” as Team Athens. After a quick round of cuts, all three Greek organizations came together to learn choreography and sharpen their motions. Mary Lee of Gamma Phi Beta took the lead with Team Athens to help create our stroll! Clad in orange, Gamma Phi Beta along with their fellow Greeks rocked the plaza and enjoyed watching the other strolls!
Alpha Sigma Alpha Dominates Activity Hour
Alpha Sigma Alpha was paired up with Psi Upsilon Fraternity and Alpha Phi Alpha Incorporated Fraternity as #TeamParis with the unifying color of Gold. The week was filled with laughter, cheering, bonding, and memories. After learning which organizations Alpha Sigma Alpha was teamed up with, all three groups got together for a mixer to become better acquainted and make plans for all the Greek Week events. One of the highlights of the week was Team Paris’ domination of Greek Week’s Activity Hour! For this event, a small number of members from each of the three organizations performed in this event. Though the number of those performing was small, the amount of supporters certainly was not. The ladies and gentlemen of Team Paris clearly took advantage of the wonderful experiences that Greek Week had to offer!
Alpha Delta Pi Shows Team Spirit!
The sisters of Alpha Delta Pi teamed up with the brothers of Pi Kappa Phi and the sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. as Team Tokyo for CNU’s Olympics themed Greek Week 2014. Team Tokyo enjoyed the Greek Week speaker, David Stollman, who emphasized the importance of a strong Greek community that reiterated the importance of our creeds. They had fun from taking pictures on campus to hanging out at Family Feud! Throughout the different events and activities, the spirit of the ADPi sisters remained strong! This awesome attitude that came from Team Tokyo is probably what contributed to the winning of their awards later in the week. Team Tokyo was awarded the spirit award and the sportsmanship award. They would like to thank their teammates, Pi Kappa Phi and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., for everything they did for Team Tokyo!
Workin' the Stage with Alpha Phi
Crowds of people filled the Trible Plaza to watch the day most anxiously awaited during Greek week: stroll off. Bursts of laughter and cheer filled the air as team Sydney, formed with Alpha Phi, Delta Sigma Theta and Kappa Delta Rho, took on center stage and brought home a wowing second place! Team Sydney, formed with organizations of different styles, incorporated a piece of their own uniqueness into the rhythms of good old fashioned strolling and hip dances to make the perfect routine. Alpha phi claimed the stage swaying to the thick bass and following closely to the beat. Kappa Delta Rho struck the audience with some smooth swagger and a little dusting off of the shoulders and Delta Sigma Theta added some fierce flavor to the routine, giving a little taste of spice to the sound of exotic drums. To close out the performance, the whole team united into a dance of domination. Team Sydney ended up winning second place for the overall Greek week festivities, reflecting the true unity of the dynamic organizations.
Zeta Tau Alpha: Fun with Team London!
The ladies of Zeta Tau teamed up with the gentlemen of Kappa Sigma and Sigma Tau Gamma for Greek Week this year, deemed the name Team London and the color royal blue! Team London had an amazing start to Greek Week by dominating a win in dodge ball and taking away the flag competition during field day. The eighteen members of all three fraternities strolled their hearts out and took home the social media award! These events allowed the ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha to form new friendships and they can't wait for next year!
Phi Mu Dancing for Philanthropy, helping kids at CHKD
On November 10th, the sisters of Phi Mu held their first ever Bonnamu event! This was used as a promotional event for their 4th annual Dance Marathon that was held that following Tuesday. The aims and goals of both of these events were to raise money for their philanthropy: Children’s Hospitals of the King’s Daughters!
At Bonnamu, 13 bands performed in “Battle of the Bands” where they competed on stage! While these bands played, people off-stage were given the chance to engage in other activities such as: face painting, tie dying, corn-hole, Pie-a-Phi-Mu, and raffles!
On November 12th, Dance Marathon took place in the DSU Ballroom where people came together to “dance all night for those who are unable to”. Dance Marathon consisted of mini competitions, food catered by Harris Teeter and Buffalo Wild Wings, a silent auction, and a chance to enter into raffles. Phi Mu’s event also had returning performances and representatives from Bonnamu, such as the women of Gamma Phi Beta who won the Battle of the Bands!
Phi Mu was proud to announce that they raised over $5,000 for CHKD because of these events!!
The Alpha Phi Family
This upcoming holiday season, Alpha Phi has been very busy! First, the chapter had an open sisterhood event, Give A Lot of Thanks with Alpha Phi on Tuesday, November 19th. There was a pie tasting contest along with a photo booth where you could state what you are thankful for. Alpha Phi also had a blast participating in IFC's lip sync. To bring the semester to a close, they had a mixer with Kappa Sigma on Friday, November 22nd. It was a bonfire where the sisters could enjoy eating s’mores and sitting around the fire. Alpha Phi is very thankful for campus activities and Greek life.
Also on November 16th, the Theta Phi chapter initiated nine moms into our alumni chapter. The moms were so excited to be welcomed into the sisterhood and all the sisters greeted them with open arms. After the moms were initiation, we celebrated with a late lunch and gave them our frame creed.
Zeta Tau Alpha: Fun on the Waterfront
On November 16, Zeta Tau Alpha celebrated their semi-formal at the Marriott in City Center. Everyone was looking forward to a nice break from studying and couldn’t wait to dance the night away. The theme, Under the Sea, was a great success and every sister had a blast dancing and mingling with cherished friends and fantastic dates! The ballroom overlooked the fountain and sisters enjoyed the spontaneous photo-ops that accompanied such a beautiful backdrop. ZTA’s fall semester definitely ended with a bang and we could not be more excited to come back in the spring! We also would like to congratulate our wonderful officers, who were newly installed a couple of weeks ago. They are all extremely talented and we know that they will do only great things for our chapter!
ADPi Supports the Ronald McDonald House
On November 21, the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi had their first annual philanthropy event "Walk on the Wild Side". Various Greek organizations competed on the runway by showing off the different outfits they had created! Later that week, the sisters made a trip to the Ronald McDonald House to deliver the donations that they received at the philanthropy event and to clean, bake cookies, and spend time with the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. The Theta Nu chapter is very fortunate to have a Ronald McDonald House close by so they can actively participate and volunteer! Sisters are planning to make multiple trips to the Ronald McDonald House over Christmas break to spend time with the families for the Holidays!
Alpha Sigma Alpha Leadership
It's been an exciting semester for ASA! Before going home for Thanksgiving break, ASA went through the process of officer transitions. Joining a sorority opens up so many awesome leadership opportunities, and a great example is becoming an officer in a sorority! As officers in ASA, our women gain confidence, experience, and are given the means to make exciting innovations but also continue on traditions within the sorority. Transitioning new officers into their positions is an exciting time, and all the women in Alpha Sigma Alpha are proud of the newest leaders in our sorority!
Also, as the semester winds down, ASA had their final open sisterhood event of the year: Cookie decorating! On Tuesday, December 3rd ASA had time to relax and enjoy the company of sisters during this stressful end of the semester! Of course, best luck to everyone as they finish up their semesters and happy holidays from the sisters of Alpha Sigma Alpha!
Gamma Phi Beta Has Holiday Spirit!
This week, the sisters of Gamma Phi Beta and the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha raised a total of $403.00 dollars for the typhoon relief in the Philippines. Everyone got together to bake homemade goods to sell to raise money to provide aid to all of those who were injured or lost their homes in the disaster. All day long, there was a booth set up in the DSU where people could receive information about the typhoon, and make donations to provide aid in the relief effort.
Also, last week the sisters of Gamma Phi Beta brought fun, holiday-themed outfits to wear for their annual holiday card.
What is this?
The Panhellenic Blog is a way for CNU sororities to share with the community what events and activities they have been doing over the course of the semester. This blog is updated every month from women within each chapter.
