Alpha Delta Pi
This month, the sisters of Alpha Phi returned from Spring Break ready to tackle the second half of the semester. We had two mixers, one with the brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon on St. Patrick's Day, and another with the brothers of Psi Upsilon at a blood drive that we co-sponsored with the American Red Cross. Our Frances E. Willard Day of Service was a huge success. We asked that people bring their old formal/prom dresses, so that girls who could not afford nice dresses of their own could still purchase one for their upcoming formal event. Recently, a group of sisters who have spent the entire spring semester practicing just competed in CNU's Best Dance Crew and took home the title of Second Place! We are so proud of their hard work and dedication to Alpha Phi. March also meant Greek Week for the CNU Greek Community. Alpha Phi was thrilled to have been paired with the brothers of PIKE and Delta Upsilon. At the Fraternal Values Awards at the conclusion of Greek Week, our advisor, Tori Edwards, was named the 2015 Outstanding Advisor of the Year. Finally, we initiated 37 new sisters into our chapter this month. We'd like to give a special thank you to our New Member Educators, Alyssa and Christine, for educating our new sisters on what our sisterhood, history, values, and traditions are all about. This month, we are lucky for each other, and lucky to be Alpha Phis!
Alpha Sigma Alpha
March was a busy month for us! We had tons of birthdays celebrations! We enjoyed the beautiful weather with some of our furry friends too! At the end of March we had our S. June Smith philanthropy event that raised over $1,500 , "So You Think You Can Even?" Here we crowned Mr. Basic 2016, Jon Toms. We are are looking forward to April and all the memories to come!
This month was very eventful! We continued our weekly volunteering at the York Center for the elderly, Meals on Wheels, Food Fighters, and with the Lion's Club! To celebrate the beginning of Spring we got the opportunity to make Easter eggs with the residents of the York Center. We had our yearly spring retreat at a local country club and enjoyed time playing games, bonding, and eating delicious snacks. We got to celebrate our Founder's Day on March 15th with our annual brunch in which we honored some of our scholars with awards. For Badge Day during Ritual Week we wore our golden anchor with pride! At Relay for Life our team raised over 5,200 dollars towards the American Cancer Society, and earned the Gold Medal. Some sisters and new members moms or dads got the chance to be pinned with the anchor to share the special bond of Delta Gamma. We had our first ever date function as a chapter - 1920's themed! At the end of the month our sisters took part in a smashing routine for Gamma Phi Beta's Best Dance Crew!
Gamma Phi Beta
In the month of March, Gamma Phi Beta volunteered heavily at our local philanthropy, Girls Inc. I attached a photo of some sisters with the girls we volunteer with a day that we were there working with them on their dance routine for Best Dance Crew. We held our annual event and raised over $9,000 and had an amazing time in our neon pink shirts. What a lot of the public doesn't know, that even after the physical event, Gamma Phi Beta alumni continued to donate over $850 so our actual total we are giving to Girls Inc. is over $10,000!!!! Aside from the major event that was Dance Crew, we also had our Big Little Reveal (I attached a family photo of some sisters), initiation, and placed 2nd in CNU's Relay for Life!
One highlight of March was our annual Greek Auction! We raised over $5,000 for one of our philanthropies, Phi Mu Foundation, and really appreciated all of the support from the Greek Community. Greek Week was so much fun with our Green Squad members, ZTA and Alpha Phi Alpha, and we ended up taking home the win with them at the Fraternal Values Awards! We also were honored to receive the Excellence in Philanthropy and Excellence in Scholarship awards. Our team of over 40 sisters performed in Gamma Phi Beta's Best Dance Crew with an awesome throwback rock n roll theme. We can't believe there's only one more month left in the semester, but are so excited to see what April brings!
Zeta Tau Alpha
March was a ton of fun for Zeta Tau Alpha! For spring break, we had sisters travel to Disney World, Germany, Italy and sisters who helped build houses and work in the H4H ReStores in Habitat For Humanity’s alternative spring break. When we returned to school, our wonderful new members became initiated sisters! We are so excited to be able to fully share this incredible sisterhood with these incredible women. We also had sisters participate in “A Delicate Balance” CNU’s dance show. It was amazing to see their talent and passion for dance. For St. Patrick’s Day, two of our sisters were in Ireland with the Marching Captains, while the rest of our sisters celebrated how lucky we all are to be Captains and kicked off Greek Week! Greek Week was an exciting time, and ZTA was named Greek Week Champions (along with our teammates AΦA and ΦM) for the second year running, we won Excellence in Membership Development, and our sister Macee was named Chapter President of the Year at the closing ceremony! We ended the month by participating in Gamma Phi Beta’s Best Dance Crew and we are so proud of our sisters’ dedication and hard work!
What is this?
The Panhellenic Blog is a way for CNU sororities to share with the community what events and activities they have been doing over the course of the semester. This blog is updated every month from women within each chapter.
