Dear Potential New Members,
Welcome to Christopher Newport University! As the representatives for the more than 400 CNU sorority women, we congratulate you on your acceptance and decision to attend CNU. Your years here will include so many exciting learning experiences, but perhaps none as well rounded and long remembered as being a member of a Greek organization.
Here at CNU, Greek Life is more than joining an individual sorority. It is enriching your experiences throughout your college years. It is being a part of a strong, supportive sisterhood, not only within your individual sorority, but also within our six Panhellenic chapters. We strongly encourage and demonstrate our Greek unity by being active within the CNU community and in the Newport News area through the participation of sister activities, volunteering, and community engagement. We recognize leadership and success, and believe that each girl can grow into her great potential as a Panhellenic sister. It is more than the letter you wear; it’s an experience of a lifetime.
We, along with all six of our sororities, are awaiting your participation in what is sure to be a rewarding and unique experience. Formal Recruitment will allow you the opportunity to meet as many Greek women as possible, and will give you the opportunity to learn about each individual chapter, our Panhellenic community, and our Greek community at large. You join something much larger than just one chapter; you will be joining the entire Panhellenic community. Please do not rule out any sorority before Recruitment starts or before seriously looking at what it has to offer. After all, every sorority shares common goals of sisterhood, leadership, academics, and personal growth.
No matter which sorority you choose, the Panhellenic friendships you form will last a lifetime. Starting your first day as a new member, you will be a part of a group of women with common goals of success. A sorority is much more than just another club to join; it is a group of women drawn together by mutual goals, trust, and respect. We hope that you will enjoy the Recruitment process and will decide to become a member of the Greek community. We wish you all the best in your future at CNU!
With Panhellenic love,
Your 2014-2015 Panhellenic Executive Council
Erica, Madelyn, Paige, Sam, Lexi, Elizabeth and Allison
Running home to my sisters after having just received my official bid will definitely be one of those moments that I will remember forever. The love from my sisters was clearly overwhelming from the very beginning, as they welcomed each and every one of us with open arms. I knew I had found new friends, future sisters, and my home.
